虚構である『源氏物語』は、現実社会の諸要素を貪欲に織り込み、綾なすことで独自の世界を構築しています。そのように織りなされる物語世界に欠かせない“糸”が仏教です。今回は、とくに聖徳太子と源信および浄土思想に着目します。
The fictional Genji Monogatari constructs its idiosyncratic world by generously incorporating as well as twisting various real-world elements. And Buddhism served as the indispensable “thread” for weaving its narrative world. Our special focus in this exhibition is on Prince Shotoku, Genshin, and the Pure Land philosophy.
