龍谷大学大宮図書館2020年度特別展観は「禿氏祐祥～知の先人～」をテーマに開催致します。
本学名誉教授であった禿氏祐祥(とくしゆうしょう)先生（1879～1960）は、かつての西本願寺の文学寮で学ばれた後、明治38年（1905）仏教大学（現龍谷大学）の書記として着任、京都帝国大学講師や龍谷大学図書館長および龍谷大学文学部教授を勤め、約50年余りの長きにわたり龍谷大学の教育にご尽力されました。
仏教学者であった禿氏先生は、本願寺親鸞聖人650回大遠忌法要記念事業である『仏教大辞彙』の編集主任として携わられた他、印刷史にも造詣が深く、『東洋印刷史序説』を著され、京都文化賞を受賞されています。禿氏先生が所蔵されていた書籍は、先生の学問の広さを反映して、真宗・仏教・日本史・日本文学関係などの多くの分野に及び、現在では、龍谷大学大宮図書館に「禿氏文庫」として所蔵され、学生や教員をはじめ多くの皆さんが利用しています。
「禿氏文庫」について、龍谷大学大宮図書館では、2012年に『龍谷大学図書館蔵禿氏文庫善本解題・分類目録』を刊行しました。善本解題・分類目録により、「禿氏文庫」が所蔵する貴重な資料が紹介され、学内に限らず、学外にも大きな反響がありました。
2020年は、昭和35年（1960）に禿氏先生が逝去されて60年の年にあたります。折しもコロナウィルスの影響により、例年の特別展観の開催が難しくなりました。しかしながら、開催を断念するよりも創意工夫により、禿氏先生の学問を伝えたいと考え、WEB展観による開催を企画いたしました。龍谷大学の知の先人としての先生の業績を振り返るとともに、「禿氏文庫」に所蔵される貴重資料をはじめとするさまざまな書籍を展示することで、海外の方々にも先生の研究の一端を知って頂ければ幸いです。

It is my great pleasure to host this 2020 special exhibition of Ryukoku University Omiya Library under the theme "Yusho Tokyshi-the Predecessor of Knowledge."
Dr. Yusho Tokushi (1879-1960), a late professor emeritus of Ryukoku University, graduated from Bungakuryo and was designated as a secretary of Bukkyo-daigaku (present Ryukoku University) in 1905. He also taught at Kyoto Imperial University as an adjunct lecturer. He devoted himself to educating young students in the academic field of Buddhist studies and history. He was also assigned to Dean of Ryukoku library in which he contributed to the development of the University for more than 50 years.
Dr. Yusho Tokushi who was well versed in Buddhist studies participated in the publication project of the Bukkyo-daijii dictionary as a chief editor. He was also knowledge in the history of printing and authored the Toyo-insatsu-josetsu (The Prolegomena of the History of Printing in the East). He received the Kyoto Award in 1952.
He collected a wide range of books and materials relating to Shin Buddhist studies, Buddhist studies, Japanese history literature reflecting his interests. The collection was donated to Ryukoku University and is held at Omiya Library as the Tokushi Collection. The books and materials belonging to the Tokushi Collection are utilized by researchers and university students as valuable references today.
Ryukoku Omiya Library published the Classified Catalog of the Tokushi Collection Possessed by Ryukoku Omiya Library in 2012 and generated various reactions to the classified contents of the Tokushi Collection. We commemorate the 60th anniversary of the demise of Dr. Yusho Tokushi this year. Although the pandemic of COVID 19 makes us unable to hold the exhibition as usual, with a deep mind to recognize the significance of his legacy we will hold this year’s exhibition online. For this online exhibition, we would like to look back on his achievements and follow the path of his predecessor of knowledge at Ryukoku University. I sincerely wish that this exhibition provides an opportunity for as many people as possible to get to know Dr. Yusho Tokushi’s legacy both domestically and internationally.

龍谷大学には、大宮、深草、瀬田の3キャンパスにそれぞれ図書館があります。龍谷大学の歴史は、寛永16年（1639）西本願寺が創建した「学寮」に始まります。大宮図書館もほぼ同時期に始まったとされています。
大宮図書館は、380年余りの歴史の中で、数多くの資料を収集してきました。蔵書は、大宮キャンパスに文学部を設置していることから、仏教学・真宗学・歴史学・日本文学の分野を中心に構成し、現在の蔵書数は75万冊余りに及びます。
大宮図書館の特徴として、日本及び中国の古い資料を数多く所蔵し、貴重資料には、国宝である『類聚古集』などが含まれています。また、西本願寺歴代宗主の蔵書であった「写字台文庫」が大宮図書館に寄贈されています。その他、西本願寺第22代宗主大谷光瑞師派遣による大谷探検隊が将来した中央アジアの仏教経典なども所蔵しています。
Ryukoku University has three libraries across three campuses in Kyoto and Shiga: Omiya Library, Fukakusa Library, and Seta Library. The history of Ryukoku University begins with the establishment of Gakuryo (the College) founded by Nishi Honganji Temple in 1639. The Omiya Library started at about the same time. In its history of more than 380 years, it has collected a large number of materials.. It currently stores more than 750,000 books. Both undergraduate and graduate students who major in literature and Buddhist studies study at Omiya Campus. Therefore, the collection of books at Omiya Library is composed of the disciplines of Buddhist studies, Shin Buddhist Studies, history, and literature. It is a treasure trove of a large number of precious books and materials from Japan and China. Its collection includes national treasures such as the Ruiju Koshu (A Classified Collection of Old Poems). Also, the "Shajidai Bunko", which is the collection of the successive chief priests of Nishi Honganji Temple, which has been donated to Omiya Library. Also included in its collections are the Buddhist scriptures and remains of Central Asia brought back by the Otani expedition dispatched by the 22nd chief priests of Nishi Honganji Temple, Kozui Otani.
「禿氏文庫」は、龍谷大学名誉教授であり、仏教史学並びに仏教書誌学の研究者として知られる禿氏祐祥（とくしゆうしょう）氏（1879～1960）の旧蔵書です。
禿氏先生が古希を迎えられた昭和23年（1948）に、1,000点余りの蔵書が龍谷大学に寄贈されたのを契機に、その後も御寄贈頂き、現在では計2,365点が収められています。
文庫の構成は、仏教・真宗・日本史・日本文学関係など多岐の分野に渡り、『正信念仏偈』（延徳3年（1491）写）をはじめとする数々の貴重書が収められており、多くの研究者から注目されています。
書籍以外にも、一枚刷り木版画類420点余り、拓本類140点余りが収められており、木版画や拓本のコレクションとしても大変貴重です。
The Tokushi Collection consists of historically valuable books and materials possessed by late Prof. Yusho Tokushi (1879-1960). He was a scholar who specialized in Buddhist history and bibliography. He donated about 1,000 books relating to his research field to Omiya Library in 1948 on the occasion of the celebration of his seventieth birthday. The total number of donated books and materials counts up to 2,365 at present. The Tokushi Collection covers historical books in Shin Buddhist studies, Buddhist studies, and Japanese history and literature. It includes precious books such as an old text of the Shoshinge hand-copied in 1491. Besides texts, it contains more than 420 block prints, which were printed only once on a sheet of paper, and 140 rubbed copies of historically valuable stone monuments. For these reasons, the Tokushi Collection has been attracting academics domestically and internationally.
